Oppn Congress likely to boycott MP Assembly's special session

The opposition Congress might boycott the special one-day session of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly on March 24 if the government does not concede to its demand of extending it for a day.
Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Satyadev Katare said they have almost agreed to boycott the session if it is not extended one more day over farmers' issue.
"We want that a day's proceedings should be dedicated to discuss the plight of farmers who are facing severe crop loss due to recent hailstorm and untimely rains. Our MLAs are going to sit together to discuss a strategy for the session tomorrow," Katare told PTI today.

"We have almost agreed to boycott it (the session) if our demand is not met. But a final decision will be taken at a meeting," he added.
He said farmers' financial condition was grim in the state as hailstorm and unseasonal rainfall during ongoing rabi season has hampered standing crops for the third consecutive year and hence it is needed to be discussed in the House.
It can be noted that state's budget session was prorogued sine die last month, 29 days ahead of its schedule amid pandemonium over MP Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam. The session had began on February 18.

The special session of the Assembly is being convened to pass the supplementary budget of the current fiscal.
