Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today slammed the Opposition saying it was shedding crocodile tears in the name of farmers.
The chief minister was here to lay the foundation stone of a sugar mill in Munderwa.
Adityanath said, "It is because of the wrong works of the SP and the BSP governments that farmers are facing so many problems..long ago 42 sugar mills were set up in the eastern region but 31 of them closed down because of the governments led by these parties. Instead of setting up new mills, they sold off the assets of the closed ones at throwaway prices.
The chief minister said that his government was extending the benefits of various welfare schemes to the farmers.
