Opposition Congress in today charged Chief Minister N Rangasamy with failure to tone up public sector undertakings in Puducherry.
AICC General Secretary and former Union Minister V Narayanasamy said in a release here that instead of taking steps to salvage the loss making undertakings, Rangasamy was resorting to measures that only worsened the fragile financial position of these undertakings leading to thes institution's inability to pay even monthly wages to workers for nearly seven months now.
Narayanasamy said that the undertakings started during the previous Congress rule here and were making profits were now suffering heavy loss because of "recruitment through backdoor" than the undertakings would need.
While the PSUs like PASIC, PAPSCO, Cooperative Spinning Mill, cooperative institutions and other undertakings were suffering from critical financial position, the Chief Minister was pleasing himself by posting chairmen to these undertakings from among the ruling AINRC functionaries.
Narayanasamy said that the government should come forward to cleanse the PAPSCO of its various ills and practices so that the undertaking could be put on smooth keels and workers' welfare could be protected.
