Former union minister Sharad Yadav on Friday claimed that opposition leaders are not united as they are "scared" that the central government might lodge cases against them.
"Some leaders like Chidambaram are in jail while others are on bail," Yadav told reporters here.
Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram is lodged in Tihar Jail under judicial custody in the ED's money-laundering case.
"Opposition leaders are scared of central government that cases can be lodged against them ... that is why opposition parties are not united and the ruling BJP is taking advantage of it," he said at the residence of a Rashtriya Lok Dal leader here.
On the government formation in Maharashtra, the Loktantrik Janata Dal patron said the "unity of opposition is compulsion and need of the hour."
