Pro Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Swapan Kumar Datta will look after the functioning of the varsity till a tull-time successor to Dattagupta is found.
"The ministry has issued orders of dismissal. The Pro Vice Chancellor will now look after the functioning of the University," an HRD ministry official said.
President Pranab Mukherjee had earlier approved the dismissal of Dattagupta, the first instance of sacking of the VC of a Central University.
Dattagupta, faced several allegations of financial and administrative irregularities.
