Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today said that the party's sole aim was to win Delhi and thus defeat the communal forces in the country.
Addressing workers during a meeting at the party headquarters here Yadav said: "Our real aim is to win Delhi. We have won UP because of the hard work of party workers. Our government in the state has done loads of good work which no other government in the country has ever done. Now the need is to propagate them."
Describing politics as the game of getting majority, Yadav said that if SP succeeded in winning maximum number of seats, communal forces would be defeated.
"With maximum seats, we will be in a decisive position and will have a say in the formation of the next government at the Centre," he said further alleging that the BJP and Congress were hand in gloves and BSP was also with them.
He also claimed that because his party has directly fought with communal forces in the state, it was the only political outfit capable of defeating them in the country.
"SP had direct fight with communal forces in UP. BJP's prime ministerial candidate, who is responsible for the Gujarat massacre is spreading communalism... Everyone knows and expect that only SP could defeat BJP," Yadav said.
Incidentally, the SP veteran had expressed his desire to become the Prime Minister at a meeting yesterday.
Asking workers to take their responsibility seriously, Yadav alleged that the Opposition in the state was attacking SP only to make issues out of nothing.
"The Opposition is making issues out of nothing. Whenever any mishap takes place in the state, strict action is taken. This shows alertness of the government. Our government is for the welfare of the people," he added.
