"As on December 31, 2011, a total of 1,406 complaints were pending for over three months for submission of investigation reports with various ministries, departments or organisations," Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V Narayanasamy told Lok Sabha in a written reply today.

These complaints were forwarded by the CVC to the concerned departments for conducting investigation and report to the Commission expeditiously.

"Time limit of three months has been provided to the Chief Vigilance Officers for submission of investigation report to the Commission," the minister said.

The CVC has received a total of 17,407 complaints of alleged corruption in various government departments (including carried forward from previous year), 16,689 in 2010 and 14,348 in 2009.

After preliminary scrutiny, as many as 1,023 complaints were sent for investigation report to CBI in 2011, 945 in 2010 and 1,714 in 2009, he said.

"As per available information with CBI, it has registered 1,332 complaints for verification, which were received from various departments during last three years i.E. 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 (up to July 31, 2012).
