Over 1.5 lakh new voters registered in Delhi

Around 1.6 lakh new voters have been added in the electoral roll in Delhi, while there has been a 10 per cent increase in the gender ratio which now stands at 624 female per 1,000 male electorates.
As per the electoral roll published today, the total number of voters in the city have been estimated at 1,34,70,263 out of which 74,63,732 are men and 60,05,702 are women voters.
Voters' gender ratio improved from last year's 564 female per 1,000 male electorates to 624.
According to the final electoral roll, there are 505 electors of more than 100 years of age in Delhi, out of which 236 are male and 269 female.

However, in comparison to 11 January, 2016, the number of voters between 18 to 19 years in age has decreased by 18,137.
Delhi's Chief Electoral Officer Chandra Bhushan Kumar said that as no election is around, this may be one of the reasons for the decreasing in the numbers.

"During the period of special summary revision-2017, total 1,60,327 new voters were added after publication of Draft Roll on October 1, 2016," Kumar said.
In order to decongest polling stations, the CEO office has increased the number of polling stations from 2,620 to 2,663 in the national capital.
During the Special Summary Revision, names of 24,825 voters of 18 years have been added in the electoral roll as comparison to the 13,788 electors added during the last summary revision.

Out of this, 13,554 are male and 11,271 female as compared to the respective figures of 8,303 and 5,485 of last summary revision.
