Over 1.60 cr voters eligible to vote in Haryana

Over 1.60 crore electors are eligible to exercise their franchise at 16,244 polling stations in the Lok Sabha polls to be held on 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana on April 10.
As per the final supplementary list of electors, there are more than 1.59 crore general electors and more than 1.02 lakh service electors, Chief Electoral Officer Shrikant Walgad said today.
He said that out of the total of over 1.60 crore electors, 87 lakh are men and 73 lakh women.
He said that 3,043 polling stations have been identified as hyper-sensitive, 2,976 as sensitive and 132 as critical.
As many as 230 candidates including ten women are in fray.
The highest number of 41 candidates are in fray in Hisar and 14 each in Ambala and Rohtak.
The main parties in fray include Congress, INLD, HJC-BJP combine, BSP, AAP and the Left parties.
Of the 10 Lok Sabha seats, Congress had won nine and the Haryana Janhit Congress one - Hisar - in the 2009 Lok Sabha election.
