More than 1.90 lakh tourists from Pakistan and around 35.50 lakh tourists from Bangladesh visited India in 2016 and 2017, the government informed Parliament today.
Minister of State for Tourism K J Alphons told the Rajya Sabha that while foreign tourist arrivals in India during 2016 was 8.80 million, in 2017 the number stood at 10.18 million.
In 2016, the number of tourists from Bangladesh was 13,804,409 while those from Pakistan was 1,04,720. In 2017, the number of tourists from Bangladesh was 21,70,406 and those from Pakistan was 89,692, he said.
