Over 2 Cr minority students sought pre,post-matric

The government received a total of 2,08,99,524 applications from minority students seeking benefits under its pre-matric and post-matric scholarship schemes over the past three years, the Rajya Sabha was told today.
Out of the total applications, 1,87,49,876 pleas were received from students under pre-matric scholarship scheme between 2013-14 and 2015-16,Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs (Independent Charge) Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.
During the same period, it got 21,49,648 applications for post-matric scholarships.
Replying to a query, Naqvi said the Centre has not received any proposal to make the two schemes demand-driven.
