Over 22,000 polling centres established for Chg assembly polls

As many as 22,146 polling centres have been set up in Chhattisgarh for the upcoming assembly elections, which will be held in two phases across the state.
Of the total polling stations, 21,418 are primary while 728 are auxiliary polling booths.
Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Kujur said that if the number of voters in a polling centre exceeds 1400 in urban area, and 1200 in rural area then auxiliary polling centres are established.
About 108 auxiliary polling centres have come up in Durg district, Bilaspur (99), Raipur ( 81), Balod (72), Bemetara (56), Janjgir-Champa (48), Korba (45), Mungeli (42),Sukma (16) Kanker (37), Mahasamund (25), Dhamtari ( 22), Surguja ( 14), Balrampur (12), Baloda Bazar (11), Bijapur (11), Jashpur (9), Surajpur (8), Raigarh (6), Gariaband (4), Bastar (2), Rajnandgaon (2) and Kabirdham (2).

During the first phase of polling, the timing for voting had been fixed from 7am-3 pm, he said.
A total of 18 Naxal-affected constituencies of Southern region will go to polls in the first phase on November 11 while the rest of the 72 constituencies will vote in the second phase on November 19.

The gazette notification for the first phase will be issued tomorrow (October 18) after which filing of the nominations will begin.
The last date for filing nominations is October 25. Subsequently scrutiny of the nominations will be completed on next day.
The contestants can withdraw their name till October 28, before the first phase of polling on November 11.
