Over 40 fire related incidents in Jaipur on Diwali

Nearly 100people received burn injuries while celebrating Diwali and over 40 fire incidents reported in the city during the festival.
Around 250 cases of accidents were also reported to SMS Government Hospital till this morning.
"Eighty-six people with burn injuries were brought to the hospital. Of them, seven were admitted and others were given first-aid. Nearly 250 cases of accidents were also reported," Dr Jagdish Modi, in charge of emergency at SMS Hospital, told PTI.
He said that the people who were brought to the hospital were from the all age group, from children to elders.
A few more cases of burn injuries were reported in other hospitals also, taking the total number of people receiving injuries to close to 100.
Chief Fire Officer Sanjay Sharma informed that fire broke out at 45 places on the night of Diwali but no major incident occurred.
"Most of the incidents were minor and were controlled in time," Sharma said, adding that no one was injured in these incidents.
Police had made elaborate security and traffic arrangements for the festival season.
"Diwali celebrations were peaceful. Additional policemen were deployed in the law and order duty and there was no report of any untoward incident. Senior police officers were also on patrolling last night," Police Commissioner Janga Srinivas Rao said.
