Over 7.57 LT arrives in Haryana

More than 7.57 lakh tonnes of paddy has so far arrived in the mandis of Haryana and out of which 6.87 lakh tonnes has been purchased by the procuring agencies of the government during the Kharif 2014-15.
While stating this here today, a spokesman of the state Food and Supplies Department said that over 70,000 tonnes of paddy has been purchased by Millers and Dealers.
He said a maximum of over 2.33 lakh tonnes (LT) of paddy has arrived in the mandis of Kurukshetra followed by over 2.24 LT in Karnal and over 1.12 LT in Kaithal.
He said among the procuring agencies the Food and Supplies Department has procured over 3.20 LT of paddy whereas HAFED has procured over 2.14 LT, Agro Industries Corporation over 1.07 LT and Haryana Warehousing Corporation 45,495 tonnes.
Meanwhile, paddy procurement has started picking up momentum with government agencies and private millers procuring more than 3.66 LT till last evening in Punjab, an official spokesman said.
Out of total procurement of 3.66 LT of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, government agencies procured 2.90 LT till date whereas private traders procured 76,219 tonnes of the crop.
The spokesman said that district Taran Tarn with 51,925 tones of procurement was still leading in procurement operations, whereas district Jallandhar with 47,973 tonnes of procurement was at second slot.
