Over 78,000 new voters registered in Himachal

Over 78,000 new voters have been registered in revised electoral rolls in Himachal Pradesh ahead of assembly polls, the election commission said.
New voter lists have been published and displayed after work on special revision of photo electoral rolls of all 68 Assembly constituencies of the state had been completed, State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pushpender Rajput said.
He said that 1,25,556 new voters had been registered after special revision of the electoral rolls, which included 40,567 in the age group of 18-19 years and 84,989 above 19 years of age.
Names of 47,523 voters were deleted due to death or change of place or double registration, the officer said.

A net increase of 78,033 voters (1.62 per cent) has been registered in the state, the CEO said.
Now there are 49,05,677 registered voters in the state out of whom 24,98,174 are male and 24,07,503 female voters, Rajput said.

Sulah Assembly constituency of Kangra district has the highest number of voters -- 92,753. Spiti constituency has the lowest number of voters -- 22,849, the officer said.
The electoral rolls of all the assembly segments are available on the websites of the state election department besides the District Election Offices, offices of SDM, ADM, Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar and Booth Level Officers of every polling center, he added.

Assembly elections in the state are expected to be held at the end of this year.
