Over Rs 163 cr recovered from Har Panchayat candidates

A sum of Rs 163.16 crore has been recovered so far from candidates of the upcoming Panchayat elections in Haryana with the implementation of eligibility criteria that they should not have an outstanding debt of a cooperative bank or arrears of any electricity bill.
Of the total amount, the cooperative banks have recovered Rs 132.57 crore, an official spokesman said here today.
Similarly, candidates have paid over Rs 30.59 crore towards their outstanding electricity bills to Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) Limited.
The recovery includes payment of over Rs 14.17 crore due to UHBVN and over Rs 16.42 crore due to DHBVN.
Under Haryana State Cooperative Apex Bank Limited, Chandigarh, the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies recovered Rs 82.35 crore and District Central Cooperative Bank (DCCB) recovered Rs 9.72 crore, the official said.
Similarly, the Haryana State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Limited, Panchkula has so far recovered Rs 40.50 crore, he added.
