"We focus on upgrading storage and scaling of Mac products. I see a lot of opportunities for our products in India where there are over hundred thousands of Mac installed. We plan to assemble our products here," OWC founder and CEO Larry O'Connor said here.
The company, he said, is looking to address the problem Apple consumers face when it comes to storage and scaling up of their Mac PC.
Asked about timelines for assembly, Connor said: "I can certainly say it would be in place in 3-4 years, but it can be even before. It will depend on how fast market accepts our product here."
"We have seen triple digit growth in India. It is first overseas market for us where we are making direct investment. With the growth and potential that India has, companies that are not here 5 years down the line will regret. We plan to handle Asia-Pacific business from here," Connor said.
OWC manufactures its products in the US.
"We see ease of accessibility in India. Comfort level is higher in India for us than other markets. There are several factors like cost, product development etc that have brought us to India," Connor let out.
"With help of our distributors, we will sell products at around 150 authorised Apple dealers. We have set up our sales team here. In a year, we plan to set up our technical support. At conservative estimate, we expect our business to reach USD 7.5 million in India in two years from now," Connor added.
