The Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS), which is leading the OBC quota agitation of the Patel community, today launched its 'Ekta Yatra' (solidarity march) from Umiyadham at Sidsar.
"The Yatra was flagged off at Kadva patels' religious place, Umiyadham, and would end at Leuva Patels' religious place Khodal Dham at Kagvad," said Laleet Vasoya, Saurashtra region convener of PAAS.
"The 33-day-long Yatra will cover 11 districts, 56 tehsils and 1,440 towns of Saurashtra," Vasoya said.
BJP MLA from Dhari, Nalin Kotadiya, who has openly supported the Patels' demand for reservation under the OBC category was present on the occasion along with Bharatbhai Patel, father of the jailed PAAS leader Hardik Patel.
"The main object of the Yatra is to bring Kadva and Leuva Patels together and spread message of importance of unity," Vasoya said. The Yatra will also seek to spread awareness about saving the girl child, he said.
