Padmanabhan takes over as NRL MD

P Padmanabhan today took over as Managing Director of Numaligarh Refinery Limited succeeding Dipak Chakravorty who retired yesterday.
Prior to his appointment, he was the Executive Director (Refineries Co-ordination) of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), NRL's holding company with major equity of 61.65 per cent, a NRL release said here.
He was in charge of co-ordination among group refineries of BPCL's Mumbai and Kochi Refinery, joint venture Bharat Oman Refineries Limited (BORL) and NRL.
He was also the task force leader for finalising BPCL's future strategy till 2020 and contributed in finalising BPCL's entry into Petrochemicals through Propylene derivative products.
Working with BPCL since 1980, Padmanabhan has experience and in-depth knowledge in major functions of Refinery such as Production, Process, Technical Services, Quality Control, International Trade and was a member of the task force for Corporate Restructuring.
Involved in various capacities in evolving strategies and implementing projects to meet Auto Fuel specifications at BPCL's Mumbai Refinery, he was responsible for successful supply of Euro III auto fuel in first phase, Euro IV equivalent auto fuels in second phase and in conceptualisation and commissioning of the first hydrocracker integrated Lube Oil base stock production plant.
He was appointed as the Convener of the Committee for finalising specifications of hydrocarbon fuels under Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
He is a member of the Expert Group constituted by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to evaluate performance of refineries and take steps to make them more efficient, viable and profitable.
