Pak army chief meets US CENTCOM chief

Pakistan army chief General Raheel Sharif today met US Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander General Lloyd Austin and discussed a range of issues including bilateral defence cooperation, regional security situation and ongoing military operations against Taliban.
Gen Austin met Sharif at the army's Headquarters in the garrison city of Rawalpindi near Islamabad.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including bilateral defence cooperation and overall regional security situation with special emphasis on Afghanistan were discussed, army said.
He was briefed about the military operation Zarb-e-Azb in tribal region.
Earlier, the commander also paid floral tributes to Pakistani soldiers killed in anti-terrorism operations.
General Sharif last year during his visit to the United States had visited the CENTCOM headquarters in Tampa, Florida.
