Nadeem Masood had raped a woman of Sargodha district of Punjab, some 200 kilometres from here in 2010, that resulted in the birth of a girl in 2011.
An FIR was registered against the accused on the complaint of the victim's family following which Masood was arrested and the trial was held.
Earlier in December, 2012, a sessions court sentenced him to 20 years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,00,000 on him after conducting a DNA test both on him and the woman.
Rejecting his mercy plea, the LHC today increased the amount mentioned by the sessions court 10 times and ordered the convict to pay Rs 1 million compensation to the girl born as the result of the crime committed by him.
The court observed the girl born due to the rape may suffer "mental anguish for the rest of life" and is, hence, entitled to the amount.
