Leading Pakistani newspaper The News and some TV channels here had reported that Sharif had spoken about reports pouring in on the involvement of many groups, including the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) of India, in the Islamabad district court firing and bomb attack, and the investigation was going on in this regard.
TV reports were more direct in accusing Indian intelligence agencies.
"The reports say that the Prime Minister said RAW (India's external intelligence wing) and other agencies were involved. These remarks attributed to the PM are not correct. He did not speak to the media and he did not make these comments," Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said at her weekly press briefing.
Pakistani security agencies are still investigating the brazen attack that took place on Monday in the heart of the federal capital.
Sharif was reported to have talked about foreign intelligence agencies in his interaction with a group of parliamentarians from Gujranwala who called on him yesterday.
