A senior Pakistani journalist working with a local daily has been detained by security personnel, according to a media report.
Nasrullah Khan Chaudhry, who is associated with Urdu daily 'Nai Baat', was detained on Saturday by the security personnel following a raid at his residence, the Dawn reported.
Chaudhary's whereabouts were not known, the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and the Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ-Dastoor) said.
The participants expressed their concern over "illegal detention" of Chaudhry and termed it an attack on media freedom.
"High-handed tactics are being used to harass the journalists who were protesting against the intrusion by armed personnel and violation of sanctity of the KPC two days ago," the statement said.
On Thursday, several armed men in plain dress barged into the KPC and harassed media persons, according to the office bearers of the club.
The PFUJ has urged the Sindh governor, chief minister and senior security officials to take notice of the harassment of journalists and efforts to undermine freedom of the press, the report said.
It also demanded that Chaudhry be released immediately.
