The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government in northwest Pakistan today said it has decided to form a special force to guard sensitive prisons in the restive province.
The chief minister's adviser, Malik Qasim Khan said that the Special Prison Force of 850 personnel, equipped with latest gadgets and equipment, would be responsible for jail security.
He said that a plan has been initiated to establish a separate prison for Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) to keep tribal prisoners besides a women's jail.
Khan said that a high-security prison would be established in the province with three-layered security.
He said that high security zones in six sensitive jails of the province would also be established that would have the capacity to accommodate more than 1,000 high profile prisoners.
Inspector General of KP Prisons Kifayatullah Khan said that the province would have the country's first high security prison with central lock system and three layers of security.
