Operation Khyber One, the anti-terrorism operation launched by the army in October that killed dozens of insurgents of the outlawed militant group Lashkar-i-Islam in Khyber Agency has successfully cleared the area of any militants, local media reported today.
The pro-government militia Levies and Khasadar forces start performing their duties in Bara tehsil of the Khyber Agency today following the operation.
According to local administration, preparations continue for the return of around 100,000 displaced families while educational institutes in Bara will reopen in the next few days.
Tribal elders and peace committees will assist the administration to maintain peace in the area, sources said.
Situation in Bara has remained tense since 2009, paralysing business activities and health facilities.
