Pakistan army kills 23 militants in North Waziristan

At least 23 militants were killed today as Pakistani military choppers pounded militant hideouts in the restive North Waziristan tribal region where it has launched a major offensive against the Taliban fighters.
The latest strikes targeted militant hideouts in Ismail Khel and Zerom districts of North Waziristan, the Dawn reported today.
Pakistan Army in an aerial action targeted militant hideouts, killing at least 23 militants, a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
Military operation Zarb-i-Azb was launched by the Pakistan Army on June 15 following a militant attack on Karachi's international airport and failure of peace talks between the government and Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) negotiators.

Pakistan's Air Force has spearheaded the operation to wipe out militants' hideouts.
The military claims it has killed nearly 1,000 militants and lost 82 soldiers since the start of the operation.
