Pakistan will deploy around 2,500 personnel in Islamabad to ensure security in the capital during the holy month of Ramadan, a media report said today.
Police officials, security guards and volunteers from mosques will be deployed for security arrangements that will be supervised by five superintendents of police and SHOs.
The capital police have devised an elaborate security plan for the fasting month, which begins tomorrow, under which the 2,500 security men will perform special duty around 720 mosques and 39 imambargahs in the city, Dawn reported.
Police officials, security guards and volunteers from mosques will be deployed for the security duties at worship places and markets.
Police stations have been directed to coordinate with trader unions to ensure effective security along with the security guards.
The police said a special drive against professional beggars would be launched to not allow them to gather outside the worship places.
The police officials have also been directed to carry out special checking of hotels, motels, inns and guest houses.
SSP Mohammad Ali Nekokara directed all the participants to ensure compliance of these security arrangements during the month.
Only one gate of the worship places would be kept open during the month and mosque committees would conduct checking through metal detectors and would also deploy private security guards for the purpose.
More than 40 people were injured in the attack at a shrine in suburbs of the capital during this month.
