A 40-year old Pakistani national, who inadvertently crossed into Indian territory, has been sent back home, the BSF said today.
Salim Ekbal, a resident of Sheikhpura district in Pakistan, inadvertently crossed International Boundary and reached near a border security fence on the intervening night of November 12 and 13, BSF Deputy Inspector General R S Kataria said in a release here.
Ekbal, who was apprehended by BSF authorities, said that he was not aware of the alignment of International Boundary and inadvertently strayed into the Indian territory.
"Nothing objectionable was recovered from his possession," the BSF DIG said.
Officials of the Border Security Force (BSF) contacted Pakistan Rangers on November 14 and handed over Ekbal to them on "humanitarian grounds".
This year, 12 Pakistani nationals, including Ekbal, inadvertently entered Indian territory, following which they were handed over to Pakistan Rangers by BSF, Punjab Frontier.
