The Palamau Tiger Reserve (PTR), that is home five big cats, observed the International Tiger Day on Monday.
To mark the occasion, school children took part in painting competitions in the Park and took home prizes, PTR Deputy Director A K Mishra said.
"There are five tigers. As it is their mating season, the PTR will be reopened in the first week of October," he said.
Awareness drive is continuing to protect wild animals, Mishra said adding that people should inform the forest guards or the department as soon as they see any wild animal in straying into their villages.
The animals stray into villages in summers for water when water holes in the forest dry up, he said adding that the animals should not be teased.
