A 2.5 foot 'panchaloha' idol of Goddess Meenakshi was seized by revenue department officials from the residence of a man who had unearthed it two days back in his village.
Police said the man had unearthed the idol along with another broken panchaloha idol while desilting a tank at Thalirmarumpur in this district. He had kept the idols in his house without informing the officials, they said.
The broken idol was found with its hip missing, they said, adding officials are scouring the area to locate the other parts of the idol.
