In order to find a solution to Atali dispute, more than 1000 people from about two dozen villages of the district participated in a Panchayat at Machgar village here and formed a 14-member committee to settle the issue.
SHO Chainsa Preetpal, taking care of the Atali matter, also attended the Panchayat.
It was also decided to hold a Mahapanchayat on July 8 in village Dayalpur.
Manoj Tongar, a resident of Machgar village said that the committee has been assigned with the task of visiting the Atali village which was scene of communal clashes twice in the last two months.
The members of the committee will meet the people from both the communities and take every step to settle the matter once for all, Tongar added.
Yesterday, police arrested nine persons from communally sensitive Atali village on charges of whipping up communal passion in the area, which has witnessed two clashes recently.
The arrests were the follow up of May 25 violence in which several houses of the minority community were torched.
These arrests were made against the FIR lodged on May 26.
There are 19 FIRs lodged in the case naming about 50 men, said Narender Chauhan, Inspector Crime Branch Faridabad.
Atali witnessed the latest clash on Wednesday last, in which four persons were injured.
On Saturday, a special team formed by Faridabad Police picked up 68 persons for questioning after a search operation in the village.
On May 25, at least five persons were injured and around 15 houses gutted after a clash erupted between two communities over construction of a religious structure in the village.
