Panchayat polls: 154 cartons of illegal liquor seized, 1 held

In a drive against illegal supply of liquor in the Panchayat polls, officials of the excise department seized 154 cartons of liquor worth Rs 7 lakh, and arrested one person near Talda village under Jansath police station in the district.
"A vehicle was intercepted here last evening and 154 cartons of liquor worth Rs 7 lakh were seized," district Excise officer Karundra Singh said.
One accused identified as Saurabh was arrested while Vikas, N K Choudhry and Umesh managed to escape, Singh said.
Police has registered a case under Excise Act and relevant sections of the IPC against all the four accused.
