A Parliamentary panel has recommended an 'All India Common Recruitment Exam' for school teachers which would be acceptable to all states to address the issues related to quality.
In its 285th report, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on HRD has felt that in order to standardise the quality of teachers, an All India Common Recruitment Exam in the line of Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) would be a step in the right direction.
The panel in its report has also said that this exam should be accepted by all states "leaving no scope for irregularities.
The panel has also expressed concern over the large number of Teachers' vacancies and sought urgent steps in this regard.
The panel has also laid emphasis on strengthening the aspects related to teacher training in the country.
