The sub-Himalayan region received heavy rains since yesterday morning with Jalpaiguri recording the highest precipitation at 65.9 mm, followed by Darjeeling which received 63 mm rains, the regional MeT department said today.
While monsoon has officially entered Gangetic West Bengal, it is yet to be active in most parts of the region. Asansol and Burdwan, which fall in this region, received 8 mm and 5.3 mm rains respectively, the MeT department said.
Kolkata, which recorded the highest maximum temperature of 34.2 degrees Celsius, received 6.4 mm rains since yesterday morning, it said.
