However, no one was injured in the incident.
According to the railways, a few wheels of a coach of Gonda-bound Izzatnagar-Gonda train went off the railway track at around 10:30 AM.
Alarmed by the unusual rattling of the wheels on the track, the train driver applied emergency brakes and warded off a major accident.
No one was injured in the incident. However, railway traffic on the tracks was suspended following the accident, officials said.
A team comprising Divisional Operation Manager (DOM) and other senior railway officers rushed to the spot to ascertain the exact cause of derailment.
Public Relation Officer at Divisional Railway Manager Lucknow Alok told PTI, "Efforts are on to clear the tracks."
An inquiry had been set up to ascertain the cause of derailment, he said, adding that all the senior officials were on the spot and attempts were on to restore traffic.
