LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan today demanded Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's resignation over the train accident in Khagaria district of Bihar in which 37 persons were mowed down.
"It happend due to total failure of the state government. Every year, this ceremony of Lord Shiva takes place at the place, in which thousands of devotees participate. The state government did not make any arrangement. A similar accident had happened on the bank of the Ganges during Chhath festival.
"Nitish Kumar should resign owning moral responsibility for the accident. The state cannot absolve itself of the responsibility. The state goverment is also the controlling authority of Government Rail Police," Paswan said.
He demanded a compensation of Rs 20 lakh for the next kin of the deceased.
Paswan also attacked the government over the "Chief Minister or any minister not visiting the accident site".
