Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today chose his Lok Sabha constituency Hajipur to promote cashless transactions among masses by paying through card to buy sweets, socks and tea.
Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message of less cash transactions on the ground, Paswan told PTI over phone, "I made three debit card transactions for buying sweets, socks and tea at Shukla market in Hajipur ... The purpose is to create awareness among the masses about less cash transaction."
Paswan, who is a Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister in the NDA government, during the day visited Shukla market in Hajipur town and first had tea at Pramod Sahu's 'NaMo' tea stall for which he made payments through debit card.
Paswan further made cashless payments for socks purchased from a garment shop in Shukla market.
The minister, who was on a day-long tour of his Lok Sabha constituency to take stock of cashless transactions at small shops there, also made card payments for buying sweets from a sweets corner located at Shukla market.
Earlier, Paswan had also made debit card payments for his purchases in Delhi.
