Police said the CB-CID wing is in touch with their counterparts in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in this regard.
The Tamil Nadu police is trying to ascertain if those arrested in connection with the Patna blasts had "any role whatsoever or have clues about the perpetrators of the Chennai crime (blasts)," the sources said, but declined to elaborate.
NIA today arrested four persons at Ranchi, including alleged mastermind Hyder Ali alias 'Black Beauty', in connection with the Patna serial blasts ahead of Narendra Modi's rally last year.
The role of Indian Mujahideen, absconding terror suspect Abubacker Siddique and some terror sleeper cells are being investigated as part of the overall probe by CB-CID.
A police team has completed a round of investigations in Karnataka and questioned two suspects. Also, a team of Karnataka officials handling terror related cases there have studied the leads in the Tamil Nadu case, they said.
Karnataka Police has been coordinating with their counterparts here on several terror related cases, including the April 2013 Malleswaram blast near the BJP office in Bangalore. In that case, all accused belonged to Tamil Nadu.
