Paul Greengrass is set to helm a new version of George Orwell's dystopian classic novel '1984'.
Scott Rudin is producing the film with Gina Rosenblum. They've set as their writer James Graham, who wrote the book for the Broadway-bound musical 'Finding Neverland', reported Deadline.
Greengrass is next expected to re-team with Matt Damon in their third instalment of the Bourne Identity franchise together. Michael De Luca will oversee 1984 for the studio.
The novel is set in Airstrip One (formerly known as Great Britain), a province of the superstate Oceania in a world of perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public manipulation.
The province is dictated by a political system euphemistically named English Socialism (or Ingsoc in the government's invented language, Newspeak) under the control of a privileged Inner Party elite that persecutes individualism and independent thinking as 'thought crimes'.
