Pb, Har, Chandigarh cops for sharing intel to catch gangsters

Police officers from Punjab, Haryana and UT Chandigarh will meet every fortnight to discuss the progress made on nailing dreaded criminals as gangsters continue to pose threat to the law and order situation.
The decision was taken in a meeting of senior police officers from the two states and their common capital.
"The main issue discussed in the meeting was to catch and contain the activities of gangsters by sharing intelligence and coordinating efforts among the police personnel of the two states and the Union territory," a senior Punjab police official said.
"In the next meeting, Himachal Pradesh police officers will also be called," he said.

Punjab police have prepared a list of 35 gangsters including Vicky Goundar of Muktsar, Jaipal Singh of Ferozepur, Tirath Dhilwan of Faridkot, Harjinder Singh alias Akash of Maharashtra, Dilpreet Singh of Noorpur Bedi, among others, to track them down.
Notably, several dreaded gangsters, who are active in Punjab, after committing crime hide in Haryana or at Baddi and Solan in Himachal Pradesh.

In the meeting, it was decided that inspectors of Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) of Punjab, Haryana and UChandigarh will meet every fortnight to discuss the progress on nailing dreaded criminals.
A meeting of SP level officers will be held once in a month and thereafter senior officers of both states and the Union territory will meet in 2-3 months to check the progress, official said.

The meeting was held in the view of rise in shooting incidents by gangsters.
Last month, three gangsters were shot dead by the members of a rival gang led by Vicky Goundar, who had escaped from Nabha Jail in Gurdaspur last year.
In Rs 1.33 crore robbery on Banur-Chandigarh highway from a bank's cash van this month, police even suspected the role of gangsters.
In Panchkula on May 8, a 32-year-old bouncer was shot dead by unidentified men in broad daylight.
