An official spokesperson of the Bureau said contractor Harbans Singh of Dharampura, Sirsa had lodged a complaint with the Bureau that two officials of PWRM&DC, Mansa were demanding the bribe of Rs 1.48 from him for releasing the payment of a canal drainage work.
A trap was laid and one of the official was caught accepting the bribe of Rs 1.48 lakh in the form of a cheque from the complainant.
Later, the Bureau sleuths, during the search operation, recovered Rs 4 lakh from the accused's briefcase in his office, Rs 31,800 from his pocket, and currency notes worth Rs 25.61 lakh from his residence.
