Punjab Cricket Association has been pursuing the matter of cricketing reforms seriously, a top functionary of the PCA said today.
According to PCA secretary G S Walia, the Annual General Body Meeting of the association held in Mohali recently had taken note of the ongoing debate about the involvement of players in cricketing matters.
"The Punjab Cricket Association by and large for the last 35 years is following the policy of having in its selection committee renowned cricketers both men and women and in the other cricketing affairs like coaching etc. Even the office bearers of PCA like the Honorary Secretary General is a first class cricketer of repute, former captain of the state is a vice president and many other players are in the Executive Committee," Walia said, according to a PCA release.
He said to give further impetus "to the feelings of the players general body has decided to associate two more players to the executive committee including a lady".
Bhupinder Singh Sr., a former international cricketer, will be roped in the men's category and Shailla Jain, former Punjab captain, in the women category.
"All decisions on cricketing matters are taken by the former cricketers and members implement 100 per cent of the decisions and there is no interference of the administrators in the cricketing matters which are implemented in toto," he said.
