PCI seeks report from Bihar govt on Samastipur journo murder

The Press Council of India (PCI) has sought a report from the Bihar government on the killing of Samastipur-based journalist Brijkishore Brajesh.
In a statement released here, the Council said that PCI Chairman Justice (retd) Chandramauli Kumar Prasad has taken suo motu cognisance of the "gruesome murder" of the journalist by unknown assailants on January 3.
"Taking suo motu cognizance of the issue, the Hon'ble Chairman ordered to immediately call a report on the facts of the case from the Chief Secretary, Secretary (Home), Government of Bihar, Director General of Police, Bihar and Superintendent of Police, Bihar," the statement said.
Unidentified gunmen had on January 3 shot dead Brijkishore Brajesh, who was associated with a prominent Hindi daily, at Salkhani village in Samastipur district.
