The Vigilance Bureau today registered a preliminary enquiry (PE) into complaints of alleged coal smuggling in Jharkhand.
"A PE has been registered, and a case would be registered if there is any evidence found in the PE report," Superintendent of Police (Vigilance) Vipul Shukla said here.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had on May 2 ordered an investigation by the Vigilance Bureau asking it to submit a report within two months.
In his order, Soren directed to see complaints of coal smuggling in Hazaribagh and some other districts and alleged involvement in it by some police officials.
