The peacock flew low over the railway track close to Desara crossing, about 180 kms from here, when its feathers got entangled in the engine of Flying Rani Express train passing by yesterday, Valsad district Round Forest Officer Bhaskarbhai Mohanbhai Patel said.
Subsequently, the national bird got crushed under the train.
"The train was moving at its normal speed when the bird was hit by the engine. The driver was not aware and it was only when the train stopped at Valsad station, the carcass was found on platform number 3," Patel said.
