Brazilian football legend Pele today said that he is looking forward to witness Atletico de Kolkata's first home match of the ISL season two against Kerala Blasters on October 13.
Signing off a video message with ATK's catchline 'Fatafati Football' (fantastic football), the three-time World Cup winner has confirmed his visit to India.
"Hello, I am very happy to attend the Atletico de Kolkata first home match. I look forward to visit the Saltlake Stadium and meeting the players and the fans. Fatafati Football," Pele said in a video message.
ATK co-owner Goenka said there would be a series of activities with the 74-year-old, who will return to Kolkata 38 years, and the team would also host a private lunch for Pele.
"He'll be here for two days and there will be a series of activities with him. There's going to be a very select, very special and very small private lunch with him. You will see him on more than one occasion.
"Pele will be here for our first home match and he will sit through the entire 90-minute duration to cheer ATK. He's going to spend time on the pitch," Goenka added.
In a statement, ATK also mentioned that Pele would interact with the media on October 12, the first day of his two-day visit to the country.
The FIFA Player of the Century in 2000, Pele last came to India on September 24, 1977 as his team New York Cosmos played out a 2-2 draw against Kolkata heavyweights Mohun Bagan at Eden Gardens.
