All shops remained shut and people staged demonstration in protest against the alleged vandalisation of vechiles during a schuffle between two groups in a housing society at Sector-3 of Ballabhgarh in the district on the Holi day.
The demonstration largely remained peaceful, which continued for the second day today, even as police increased the force and also closed the road for traffic, a police official said.
ACP Ballabhgarh Gajendra Singh discussed with people about their demands and assured them action against the accused, who were still at large, they said, adding following which protesting people ended their demonstration.
The agitating people have been demanding arrest of those responsible for hooliganism and also accused police of being a mute spectator when two men came to harass the protestors.
The ACP also said two vehicles, on which the accused had come and allegedly attacked the parked vehicles, have been impounded.
He said the police teams were already on its way to nab these culprits in a matter of few days, adding that he would also ask the concerned SHO to beef up security in the sector.
On the day of Holi a minor fight took place on not giving side to a vehicle as the residents were enjoying the dance on the beats of the drum on the middle of the road.
The petty issue turned violent when the residents beat up the group of 10-12 men who came in the SUV.
However, some time later the group came alongwith other vehicles armed with iron rods and attacked the parked vehicles in the sector yesterday.
