People should rid Haryana of dynastic politics: Modi

Coming out against dynastic politics and nepotism in Haryana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked the electorate to junk such parties and elect a BJP government with majority, saying he did not want support of "dangerous" people lodged in Tihar Jail, apparently referring to former CM Om Prakash Chautala.
Addressing a public meeting here as part of his poll campaign for the October 15 Assembly elections, Modi said people should throw out those parties whose leaders were only interested in promoting their interests and that of their family at the cost of development and ensure that they do not get a single seat in the Assembly.

"In the 25-year history of the state has democracy been allowed to be saved. Here there is no democracy in even any party. Here, politics of dynasty is prevalent and not democracy.
"Whosoever has come to power, his family has ruled over the state. Whichever government came, his family grew but the state was left behind. Families have looted the state and they have done politics in the name of dynasty and caste. After taking power, they took care of nobody except their families," he said.
Modi said, "this individualism, this dynastic culture and nepotism poses a threat to democracy and that is why we have to change the fortunes of Haryana."

Dubbing INLD chief Chautala as a "dangerous man lodged in Tihar Jail", Modi said he is dreaming of becoming CM while in jail and does not even trust his own sons. Modi said he does not need the support of such people to form a government and appealed to the people to give an absolute majority to the BJP.

He also chided at Chautala for using his picture to garner votes, saying it does not behove of him to indulge in such tactics.
"I do not need the support of people lodged in Tihar Jail. I do not need the support of musclemen or dangerous people lodged in jail," he said.

Modi also attacked the Congress government in Haryana, saying women do not feel safe in the state and the plight of dalit women was even worse.
Targeting Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, he said the CM was "fooling" the people on export of Basmati rice from the state as he had imposed a 4 per cent tax on it that enabled farmers of other states to benefit by selling their basmati produce.
