"The accused ran away with the ATM of the deceased and has withdrawn money from ATMs at Miraj and Nashik. We are closely tracking his movement and he might be arrested anytime," a senior police official said on condition of anonymity.
Ghurde (39) was found dead at her home in Sangolda village near Calangute beach in Goa on October 6.
"After the murder, the accused ran away with the ATM of the deceased. There is no sign of any major burglary in the house. Also, her cellphone is missing," the official said.
The police investigation being carried out by a team led by Superintendent of Police (North) Umesh Gaonkar has revealed that few hours before her death, Ghurde had spoken to her brother, Anand, in Mumbai.
"Anand had called her around 7.30 PM on October 5. She had told him that she would be moving out after some time. This is the last known communication she had with anyone," Gaonkar told reporters today.
He, however, stayed mum on the question about her ATM and whether the police have managed to track the accused.
Police probe has also revealed that on October 5 afternoon, a renowned businessman had seen Monica at a coffee shop in Porvorim, located 5 km from her house. According to the businessman, she was moving out when he saw her.
Gaonkar said the coffee shop, owned by a reputed chain, does not have CCTV cameras installed at the premises.
The postmortem conducted yesterday revealed that the perfumer was strangulated to death, while it failed to confirm whether she was raped or not before the murder and it would be known only after the serological examination, police said earlier.
She had collaborated with eminent designers, such as Jean Francois Lesage, Christian Louboutin and Anand Kabra.
