The decision was taken in view of traffic congestions in the city due to the processions.
A statement issued by District Magistrate Roshan Jacob said that there were frequent complaints of traffic congestions on main roads and junctions mostly affecting ambulances where critical patients are being taken to hospitals.
Considering the problems faced by the residents , district authorities will not allow any processions without permission from 5 to 10 PM on the main roads, it said, adding, permission will have to taken through the police station concerned.
The concerned police station and traffic police will be informed after permission is granted so that they will manage the traffic appropriately.
If any persons violates these directives, action will not only be taken against him/her but also against the band members and owner of the banquet halls.
